Reflexology is an ancient natural healing therapy that works by gently stimulating points on the feet and hands that correspond to specific glands, organs and systems of the body. When pressure is applied to these areas, it soothes the nervous system, relaxes the body and balances your energy—encouraging the body to heal itself. Reflexology is a very calming, non-invasive experience that will leave most people feeling relaxed, and rejuvenated.
The roots of Reflexology date back thousands of years to China and even Egypt, where hieroglyphics have been found suggesting the practice of Reflexology. In the early 1900's, Dr. William Fitzgerald from the U.S. founded modern day Reflexology, otherwise known as Zone Therapy. The zones divide each foot into five vertical lines, from heel to toe, which provide a guide to where the reflex points are located. This is the system that most Reflexologists use in their practice today.
